The work Woman In White by Edwin Austin Abbey was sold in the American Paintings auction at Sothebys in New York in March 2009. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 8,125.00 (€ 6,126.99) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Woman In White is the most expensive artwork by Edwin Austin Abbey that we have observed at auctions so far.
