Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Edward Sheriff Curtis could be acquired at Christies in New York in February 2013 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Christie's Interiors auction, the work Hidatsa Woman, 1908; Wife Of Wakónda-Oto, 1927; A San Juan Matron, 1905; And A Southern Miwok Woman, 1924 changed hands for USD 500.00 (€ 382.29) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 800.00 – 1,200.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edward Sheriff Curtis achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The North American Indian, Portfolios 1-20; and Volumes 1-20 in October 2005 with an auction result of USD 1,416,000.00 (€ 1,180,491.87).
