Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work Picasso, Atelier Madoura, 1953 by Edward Quinn was auctioned at Christies in London in June 2012, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - GBP 3,500.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at GBP 12,500.00 (€ 15,477.98). Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Edward Quinn; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Untitled, 1965 sold at auction in June 2012 with the realized price of GBP 16,250.00 (€ 20,121.37).
Kunstwerk zum Dreifachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Picasso, Atelier Madoura, 1953 von Edward Quinn im Juni 2012 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – GBP 3.500,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit GBP 12.500,00 (€ 15.477,98) mehr als dreimal so hoch. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Edward Quinn; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Untitled, 1965 im Juni 2012 mit dem Hammerpreis von GBP 16.250,00 (€ 20.121,37).
