Auction result well in line with expectations

The price achieved of USD 16,250.00 (€ 10,438.08) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 14,000.00 – 18,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Edward Portielje - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A beautiful smile, which sold at auction in April 2006 for EUR 36,000.00.
