Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Two views of Thebes by Edward Lear was sold in the Old Masters Part II: Paintings, Sculpture, Drawings and Watercolours auction at Christies in London in December this year. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 8,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 8,190.00 (€ 9,434.57). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edward Lear achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Kasr-es-Saiyyad in June 2007 with an auction result of GBP 938,400.00 (€ 1,392,538.40).
