Auction result well in line with expectations
In December this year Christies in London held the auction Old Masters Part II: Paintings, Sculpture, Drawings and Watercolours, which included the work Dendera, Egypt by Edward Lear. The price achieved of GBP 11,970.00 (€ 13,788.98) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edward Lear achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Kasr-es-Saiyyad in June 2007 with an auction result of GBP 938,400.00 (€ 1,392,538.40).
