Auction result well in line with expectations
In December this year Christies in London held the auction Old Masters Part II: Paintings, Sculpture, Drawings and Watercolours, which included the work Bellagio, Lago di Como by Edward Lear. It changed hands for a price of GBP 11,340.00 (€ 13,063.25) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edward Lear achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Kasr-es-Saiyyad in June 2007 with an auction result of GBP 938,400.00 (€ 1,392,538.40).
