Auction result misses estimated price range
In December this year a collector was able to acquire the work Plataea, Greece by Edward Lear for GBP 2,520.00 (€ 2,902.94). This price was achieved in the auction Old Masters Part II: Paintings, Sculpture, Drawings and Watercolours at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edward Lear achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Kasr-es-Saiyyad in June 2007 with an auction result of GBP 938,400.00 (€ 1,392,538.40).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im Dezember diesen Jahres konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Plataea, Greece von Edward Lear für GBP 2.520,00 (€ 2.902,94) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Old Masters Part II: Paintings, Sculpture, Drawings and Watercolours bei Christies in London erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 3.000,00 – 5.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Edward Lear erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Kasr-es-Saiyyad im Juni 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 938.400,00 (€ 1.392.538,40).
