In the A Surreal Legacy: Selected works of art from The Edward James Foundation auction, the work Young man carrying a lantern sold for GBP 2,500.00 (€ 2,922.91) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 900.00. Admittedly, works by Edward James have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Revolving Islands in December 2016 with an auction result of GBP 18,750.00 (€ 21,921.79).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Edward James erzielte im Dezember 2016 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion A Surreal Legacy: Selected works of art from The Edward James Foundation wurde die Arbeit Young man carrying a lantern für GBP 2.500,00 (€ 2.922,91) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 900,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Edward James auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Revolving Islands im Dezember 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 18.750,00 (€ 21.921,79).
