In December 2016 Christies in London held the auction A Surreal Legacy: Selected works of art from The Edward James Foundation, which included the work The apocalypse by Edward James. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,875.00 (€ 2,192.18), 25% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Edward James have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Revolving Islands in December 2016 with an auction result of GBP 18,750.00 (€ 21,921.79).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 25 % übertroffen
Im Dezember 2016 führte Christies in London die Auktion A Surreal Legacy: Selected works of art from The Edward James Foundation durch, in der auch die Arbeit The apocalypse von Edward James zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.875,00 (€ 2.192,18) und damit 25% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Edward James auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Revolving Islands im Dezember 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 18.750,00 (€ 21.921,79).
