Auction result well in line with expectations
In August 2005 Christies in London held the auction BRITISH AND CONTINENTAL PICTURES, which included the work Portrait of a boy, seated three-quarter-length, with a teddy-bear, an extensive landscape beyond by Edward Irvine Halliday. The price achieved of GBP 540.00 (€ 788.85) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 400.00 – 600.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Edward Irvine Halliday - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait of Thomas Fitzroy Phillipps Fenwick Esq., seated full-length, in the library at Thirlestane House, which sold at auction in December 2006 for GBP 1,320.00 (€ 1,959.05).
