Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Ortler, Italy by Edward Harrison Compton was sold in the British and European Art auction at Christies in London in December this year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 10,080.00 (€ 11,611.77) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Edward Harrison Compton - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Sheep in a winter landscape, which sold at auction in October 2002 for GBP 21,510.00 (€ 34,025.03).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit The Ortler, Italy von Edward Harrison Compton wurde im Dezember diesen Jahres in der Auktion British and European Art bei Christies in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 10.080,00 (€ 11.611,77) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Edward Harrison Compton mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Sheep in a winter landscape beobachtet, die im Oktober 2002 für GBP 21.510,00 (€ 34.025,03) versteigert wurde.
