Auction result misses estimated price range
In April 2003 a collector was able to acquire the work From above the beacon by Edward H. Thompson for GBP 587.50 (€ 765.47). This price was achieved in the auction At Home - British and Continental Pictures & Works on Paper at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 700.00 – 1,000.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Edward H. Thompson - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Evening, heathertime in Mardale near Haweswater, Westmorland (illustrated); and Veiled light, on the moors near Troutbeck, Keswick, which sold at auction in October 2006 for GBP 1,320.00 (€ 1,972.20).
