Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Fishing vessels at the entrance to the River Orwell, Suffolk by Edward Duncan was auctioned at Christies in London in March last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 504.00 (€ 597.55). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edward Duncan achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Tantallon Castle, Coast of Haddingtonshire in October 2000 with an auction result of GBP 15,275.00 (€ 26,109.34).
