In May 2003 Christies in London held the auction THE KAI WUNSCHE COLLECTION, DIE WEISSE VILLA, HAMBURG, which included the work Dutch fishing vessels off the coast in a stiff breeze signed 'Ed Schmidt' (lower right) by Eduard Schmidt. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 705.00 (€ 982.24), 41% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Eduard Schmidt - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Fishing Boats On A Stormy Sea, which sold at auction in June 2009 for USD 5,000.00 (€ 3,566.33).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 41 % übertroffen
Im Mai 2003 führte Christies in London die Auktion THE KAI WUNSCHE COLLECTION, DIE WEISSE VILLA, HAMBURG durch, in der auch die Arbeit Dutch fishing vessels off the coast in a stiff breeze signed 'Ed Schmidt' (lower right) von Eduard Schmidt zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 705,00 (€ 982,24) und damit 41% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Eduard Schmidt mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Fishing Boats On A Stormy Sea beobachtet, die im Juni 2009 für USD 5.000,00 (€ 3.566,33) versteigert wurde.
