Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A Meeting Of The Rabbinical Council by Edouard Moyse was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in December 2011, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 15,000.00 – 20,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 13,750.00 (€ 10,598.94). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Edouard Moyse - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work In The Synagogue, which sold at auction in December 2011 for USD 53,125.00 (€ 40,950.44).
