Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Drifting by Edmund William Greacen was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in October 2013, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 6,000.00 – 9,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 5,625.00 (€ 4,137.85). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edmund William Greacen achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Day At The Beach, Watch Hill in March 2006 with an auction result of USD 78,000.00 (€ 64,255.70).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Drifting von Edmund William Greacen im Oktober 2013 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 6.000,00 – 9.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 5.625,00 (€ 4.137,85) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Edmund William Greacen erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A Day At The Beach, Watch Hill im März 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 78.000,00 (€ 64.255,70).
