Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Hillside by Edmund Henry Osthaus was sold in the American Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture auction at Sothebys in New York in April 2013. The price achieved of USD 28,125.00 (€ 21,358.60) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 25,000.00 – 35,000.00. Admittedly, works by Edmund Henry Osthaus have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Hunting in the Fall - Three Pointers in December 2006 with an auction result of USD 180,000.00 (€ 136,394.64).
