Auction result well in line with expectations

The work The merchant snow Elizabeth of Newcastle in choppy seas passing the Happisburgh lighthouses on the Norfolk coast by Edmund Coates was sold in the The Marine Sale auction at Bonhams in London in October this year. The price achieved of GBP 2,560.00 (€ 2,939.59) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Edmund Coates - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Oxbow (Northampton, Massachusetts), which sold at auction in May 2018 for USD 12,500.00 (€ 10,711.23).

Die Arbeit The merchant snow Elizabeth of Newcastle in choppy seas passing the Happisburgh lighthouses on the Norfolk coast von Edmund Coates wurde im Oktober diesen Jahres in der Auktion The Marine Sale bei Bonhams in London versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 2.560,00 (€ 2.939,59) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben worden.
