The »bidding war« ended at USD 3,750.00 (€ 3,380.51), 25% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Edmund Coates - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Oxbow (Northampton, Massachusetts), which sold at auction in May 2018 for USD 12,500.00 (€ 10,711.23).
