In March 2006 Christies in London held the auction THE COLLECTION OF THE LATE MRS E M TOMLINSON, which included the work The Old Stocking by Edith Hume. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 2,880.00 (€ 4,126.52), 44% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Edith Hume - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Dutch fisherman's family awaiting the return of the fleet, which sold at auction in November 2000 for GBP 5,170.00 (€ 8,450.16).

Im März 2006 führte Christies in London die Auktion THE COLLECTION OF THE LATE MRS E M TOMLINSON durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Old Stocking von Edith Hume zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 2.880,00 (€ 4.126,52) und damit 44% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Edith Hume mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Dutch fisherman's family awaiting the return of the fleet beobachtet, die im November 2000 für GBP 5.170,00 (€ 8.450,16) versteigert wurde.
