Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2002 Christies in London held the auction British Art on Paper including Original Book Illustrations, which included the work The Sculptor's studio by Edgar Bundy. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 2,000.00 – 2,500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 2,115.00 (€ 3,246.63) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Edgar Bundy have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Despatches - Is He Mentioned? in December 2014 with an auction result of GBP 17,500.00 (€ 22,528.30).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember 2002 führte Christies in London die Auktion British Art on Paper including Original Book Illustrations durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Sculptor's studio von Edgar Bundy zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 2.000,00 – 2.500,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 2.115,00 (€ 3.246,63) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Edgar Bundy auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Despatches - Is He Mentioned? im Dezember 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 17.500,00 (€ 22.528,30).
