In August 2005 Christies in Melbourne held the auction AUSTRALIAN, INTERNATIONAL & CONTEMPORARY PAINTINGS, which included the work Flowerpiece by Dorothy Thornhill. The »bidding war« ended at AUD 1,434.00 (€ 873.89), 59% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Dorothy Thornhill achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Neoclassical Nudes, 1932 in April this year with an auction result of AUD 34,440.00 (€ 20,642.16).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 59 % übertroffen
Im August 2005 führte Christies in Melbourne die Auktion AUSTRALIAN, INTERNATIONAL & CONTEMPORARY PAINTINGS durch, in der auch die Arbeit Flowerpiece von Dorothy Thornhill zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von AUD 1.434,00 (€ 873,89) und damit 59% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Dorothy Thornhill erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Neoclassical Nudes, 1932 im April diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 34.440,00 (€ 20.642,16).
