In April 2013 Sothebys in New York held the auction American Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture, which included the work The Performers by Doris Lee. The result of USD 5,000.00 (€ 3,797.08) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Doris Lee - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A farm in spring, which sold at auction in November 2018 for USD 10,000.00 (€ 8,831.58).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im April 2013 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion American Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Performers von Doris Lee zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 5.000,00 (€ 3.797,08) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 5.000,00 – 7.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Doris Lee mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit A farm in spring beobachtet, die im November 2018 für USD 10.000,00 (€ 8.831,58) versteigert wurde.
