Auction result misses estimated price range
In September 2020 a collector was able to acquire the work Seascape with Oystercatchers gouache, signed and dated 1992 by Donald Watson for GBP 255.00 (€ 281.18). This price was achieved in the auction The Sporting & Wildlife Sale at Bonhams in Edinburgh and was even below the estimate range of GBP 500.00 – 700.00 set by the auction house. Admittedly, works by Donald Watson have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Short-eared owl in flight; and Coots in December 2017 with an auction result of GBP 1,500.00 (€ 1,688.03).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im September 2020 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Seascape with Oystercatchers gouache, signed and dated 1992 von Donald Watson für GBP 255,00 (€ 281,18) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion The Sporting & Wildlife Sale bei Bonhams in Edinburgh erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 500,00 – 700,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Donald Watson auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Short-eared owl in flight; and Coots im Dezember 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.500,00 (€ 1.688,03).
