Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2013 Christies in London held the auction Old Master & British Drawings & Watercolours, which included the work Saint Lawrence; And Saint John The Baptist by Domenico Piola. It changed hands for a price of GBP 1,375.00 (€ 1,653.91) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Domenico Piola achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Alexandre et la famille de Darius in June last year with an auction result of EUR 1,842,000.00.

Im Dezember 2013 führte Christies in London die Auktion Old Master & British Drawings & Watercolours durch, in der auch die Arbeit Saint Lawrence; And Saint John The Baptist von Domenico Piola zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 1.375,00 (€ 1.653,91) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 1.000,00 – 1.500,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Domenico Piola erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Alexandre et la famille de Darius im Juni letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 1.842.000,00.
