Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Domenico Antonio Vaccaro achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in January 2009. In the The Scholars Eye: Property from the Julius Held Collection Part I auction, the work Archimedes demonstrating his invention to King Hieron of Syracuse; and The Death of Archimedes sold for USD 8,125.00 (€ 6,345.67) - well above the upper estimate of USD 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Domenico Antonio Vaccaro achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Perseo uccide Fineo Perseo uccide la Medusa in December 2001 with an auction result of ITL 153,125,000.00 (€ 137,624.99).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Domenico Antonio Vaccaro erzielte im Januar 2009 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion The Scholars Eye: Property from the Julius Held Collection Part I wurde die Arbeit Archimedes demonstrating his invention to King Hieron of Syracuse; and The Death of Archimedes für USD 8.125,00 (€ 6.345,67) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 3.000,00.
