In November 2010 Christies in London held the auction The Collection of the Late John Appleby: A Channel Island Treasure House, which included the work A Dutch winter landscape with a horse-drawn sleigh on a frozen river; and Travellers arriving at an inn at dusk (illustrated) by Dirk van der Laen. The result of GBP 1,000.00 (€ 1,195.00) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. Other works by Dirk van der Laen have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in March 2002 the work Une assemblée de gens de qualité attablés dans un intérieur was auctioned for EUR 1,880.00.

Im November 2010 führte Christies in London die Auktion The Collection of the Late John Appleby: A Channel Island Treasure House durch, in der auch die Arbeit A Dutch winter landscape with a horse-drawn sleigh on a frozen river; and Travellers arriving at an inn at dusk (illustrated) von Dirk van der Laen zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von GBP 1.000,00 (€ 1.195,00) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 1.000,00 – 1.500,00. Andere Arbeiten von Dirk van der Laen konnten bereits höhere Auktionspreise erzielen, so wurde im März 2002 die Arbeit Une assemblée de gens de qualité attablés dans un intérieur für EUR 1.880,00 versteigert.
