This artwork by Dirk van der Aa achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in April 2010. In the Old Master Paintings and British Paintings auction, the work An Allegory Of Summer With Putti Disporting, En Grisaille sold for GBP 27,500.00 (€ 31,647.12) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 12,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Dirk van der Aa; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Putti in a wooded landscape with a bird and a lap-dog sold at auction in July 2012 with the realized price of GBP 37,250.00 (€ 47,446.49).
