This work of art by Dirk Dalens I could be acquired at Christies in New York in October 2001 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Old Master Paintings auction, the work A landscape with Silenus leading a Bacchanal changed hands for USD 4,935.00 (€ 5,487.60) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Dirk Dalens I - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A group of bacchantes and satyrs playing in a wooded landscape, a lake beyond; and An extensive forest landscape with a bacchante and a satyr travelling, a town beyond, which sold at auction in May 2011 for EUR 18,750.00.
