Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In October this year Christies in Amsterdam held the auction Masterpieces from the Collection of Sam Josefowitz: A Lifetime of Discovery and Scholarship, which included the work Grande table basse à deux plateaux aux grenouilles by Diego Giacometti. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,673,500.00 (€ 1,921,642.93), 20% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Diego Giacometti - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work La console 'Hommage à Böcklin', which sold at auction in October this year for GBP 5,122,000.00 (€ 5,881,478.99).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Oktober diesen Jahres führte Christies in Amsterdam die Auktion Masterpieces from the Collection of Sam Josefowitz: A Lifetime of Discovery and Scholarship durch, in der auch die Arbeit Grande table basse à deux plateaux aux grenouilles von Diego Giacometti zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.673.500,00 (€ 1.921.642,93) und damit 20% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Diego Giacometti mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit La console 'Hommage à Böcklin' beobachtet, die im Oktober diesen Jahres für GBP 5.122.000,00 (€ 5.881.478,99) versteigert wurde.
