Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A Night River Scene by DeWitt Clinton Boutelle was auctioned at Christies in New York in October 2013, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,875.00 (€ 1,379.28). Admittedly, works by DeWitt Clinton Boutelle have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Artist Sketching in January 2020 with an auction result of USD 12,500.00 (€ 11,268.37).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit A Night River Scene von DeWitt Clinton Boutelle im Oktober 2013 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 5.000,00 – 7.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 1.875,00 (€ 1.379,28) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von DeWitt Clinton Boutelle auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Artist Sketching im Januar 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 12.500,00 (€ 11.268,37).
