Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Conversion Of Saul by Denys Calvaert was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in May 2016, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 23,750.00 (€ 21,329.14). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Denys Calvaert achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Holy Family With Saint John The Baptist And An Angel in January 2018 with an auction result of USD 591,000.00 (€ 475,539.11).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit The Conversion Of Saul von Denys Calvaert im Mai 2016 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 23.750,00 (€ 21.329,14) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Denys Calvaert erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Holy Family With Saint John The Baptist And An Angel im Januar 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 591.000,00 (€ 475.539,11).
