Auction result well in line with expectations
In March last year Bonhams in London held the auction Modern & Contemporary African Art, which included the work Wooden doors depicting the Crucifixion and Resurrection of Christ: commissioned by the Cathedral Church of Christ 284.5 x 167.6 x 7.5cm (112 x 66 x 2 15/16in). by Demas Nwoko. The price achieved of GBP 25,250.00 (€ 29,936.72) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. Admittedly, works by Demas Nwoko have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Folly in March 2021 with an auction result of GBP 226,800.00 (€ 266,431.58).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im März letzten Jahres führte Bonhams in London die Auktion Modern & Contemporary African Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Wooden doors depicting the Crucifixion and Resurrection of Christ: commissioned by the Cathedral Church of Christ 284.5 x 167.6 x 7.5cm (112 x 66 x 2 15/16in). von Demas Nwoko zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 25.250,00 (€ 29.936,72) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Demas Nwoko auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Folly im März 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 226.800,00 (€ 266.431,58).
