In July 2000 Christies in London held the auction Old Master Pictures, which included the work Peasants playing cards in a tavern interior by David Ryckaert. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 15,275.00 (€ 24,699.47), 27% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by David Ryckaert - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Schlafender Alter., which sold at auction in July 2015 for EUR 68,750.00.
