A young gentleman, in cloak with fur-covered embroidered sleeves over waistcoat with buttons down the front, falling lace lawn collar, shoulder-length hair
signed with initials and dated 'DL 16 [ ]' (lower right)
plumbago on vellum
oval, 5 3/8 in. (135 mm.) high, ebonised wood frame with inner gilt surround
inscribed in pencil on the reverse 'Make this exact Annisley [...]'

The work Unknown by David Loggan was sold in the Centuries of Style: Silver, European Ceramics, Glass, Portrait Miniatures and Gold Boxes auction at Christies in London in June 2011. It achieved a price of GBP 6,000.00 (€ 6,637.88), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 20%. Admittedly, works by David Loggan have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait Of A Gentleman in December 2019 with an auction result of GBP 23,750.00 (€ 28,069.72).

Die Arbeit Unknown von David Loggan wurde im Juni 2011 in der Auktion Centuries of Style: Silver, European Ceramics, Glass, Portrait Miniatures and Gold Boxes bei Christies in London versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 6.000,00 (€ 6.637,88) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 20%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von David Loggan auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Portrait Of A Gentleman im Dezember 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 23.750,00 (€ 28.069,72).
