Auction result well in line with expectations
In January 2004 Christies in New York held the auction Important American Furniture, Folk Art, Silver, Prints and, which included the work Untitled (Ship And Sea-Snake) by David Butler. The price achieved of USD 2,390.00 (€ 1,919.37) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by David Butler achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Walking Stick with Figure, circa 1975 in February last year with an auction result of USD 62,500.00 (€ 55,684.25).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Januar 2004 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Important American Furniture, Folk Art, Silver, Prints and durch, in der auch die Arbeit Untitled (Ship And Sea-Snake) von David Butler zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 2.390,00 (€ 1.919,37) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von David Butler erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Walking Stick with Figure, circa 1975 im Februar letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 62.500,00 (€ 55.684,25).
