Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work Birthday of The Archaeologist by David Bowes was worth USD 4,560.00 (€ 3,572.55) to a buyer in July 2006. This price was achieved in the auction The House Sale at Christies in New York and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of USD 1,500.00 many times over. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by David Bowes - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work without title, which sold at auction in October 2020 for USD 13,860.00 (€ 11,900.06).
