Auction result misses estimated price range
In June 2007 a collector was able to acquire the work Ruffed Grouse And Common Ptarmigan: Two Plates by Daniel Giraud Elliot for USD 840.00 (€ 621.30). This price was achieved in the auction The House Sale at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 1,500.00 – 2,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Daniel Giraud Elliot achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A monograph of the paradiseidae, or family of birds of paradise, 1873 in May last year with an auction result of GBP 40,320.00 (€ 47,432.64).
