Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work A pilgrim wearing the badge of Santiago de Campostella by Cornelis Schut III was worth GBP 2,880.00 (€ 4,274.28) to a buyer in December 2006. This price was achieved in the auction Master Drawings from the Oppé Collection at Christies in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 800.00 many times over. Admittedly, works by Cornelis Schut III have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait of a lady, half-length, in a richly embroidered lace dress with red sleeves, gold earrings, holding a pearled salver with jasmine flowers, in a sculpted cartouche in July 2014 with an auction result of GBP 22,500.00 (€ 28,379.57).
