This artwork by Cornelis de Vos achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in January 2012. In the Old Master Paintings Part II auction, the work Portrait of Bessela Pelgrom, seated three-quarter-length, in a black dress with lace cuffs and ruff, embroidered bodice and gloves, holding a chain sold for USD 182,500.00 (€ 139,814.60) - well above the upper estimate of USD 80,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Cornelis de Vos; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Portrait of a lady, half-length, in a black dress with gold embroidery and a ruff sold at auction in July 2014 with the realized price of GBP 170,500.00 (€ 215,054.11).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Cornelis de Vos erzielte im Januar 2012 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Old Master Paintings Part II wurde die Arbeit Portrait of Bessela Pelgrom, seated three-quarter-length, in a black dress with lace cuffs and ruff, embroidered bodice and gloves, holding a chain für USD 182.500,00 (€ 139.814,60) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 80.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Cornelis de Vos; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Portrait of a lady, half-length, in a black dress with gold embroidery and a ruff im Juli 2014 mit dem Hammerpreis von GBP 170.500,00 (€ 215.054,11).
