Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Cornelis de Man achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in June 2020. In the Old Master Paintings and Sculpture auction, the work Interior of the Nieuwe Kerk, Delft, with a trompe l'oeil curtain sold for USD 40,000.00 (€ 35,615.71) - well above the upper estimate of USD 18,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Cornelis de Man; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot The Curiosity Seller sold at auction in July 2011 with the realized price of GBP 51,650.00 (€ 59,276.10).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Cornelis de Man erzielte im Juni 2020 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Old Master Paintings and Sculpture wurde die Arbeit Interior of the Nieuwe Kerk, Delft, with a trompe l'oeil curtain für USD 40.000,00 (€ 35.615,71) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 18.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Cornelis de Man; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit The Curiosity Seller im Juli 2011 mit dem Hammerpreis von GBP 51.650,00 (€ 59.276,10).
