Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Still Life Of Fruit, Including A Melon, Grapes, Oranges And Peaches, Together With An Artichoke, Celery, Walnuts And Corn, Arranged On A Ledge With Butterflies And Snails Before A Stone Grotto In A Landscape by Cornelis de Heem was sold in the Old Masters Day Sale auction at Sothebys in London in December 2017. The price achieved of GBP 100,000.00 (€ 112,535.35) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 80,000.00 – 120,000.00. Admittedly, works by Cornelis de Heem have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Still Life Of Roses, Poppies, Lillies And Other Flowers In A Glass Vase On A Marble Shelf; Beneath A Partly Peeled Orange And Fraises De Bois In A Wan Li Porcelain Dish, Both On A Projecting Marble Ledge in January 2014 with an auction result of USD 749,000.00 (€ 554,814.81).
