Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Peaches, grapes, medlars, walnuts, a hazelnut, cherries, and black raspberries with a snail, a façon de venise glass of wine, and a flute glass on a stone ledge before a niche by Cornelis de Heem was auctioned at Christies in New York in October 2017, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 100,000.00 – 150,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for Admittedly, works by Cornelis de Heem have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Still Life Of Roses, Poppies, Lillies And Other Flowers In A Glass Vase On A Marble Shelf; Beneath A Partly Peeled Orange And Fraises De Bois In A Wan Li Porcelain Dish, Both On A Projecting Marble Ledge in January 2014 with an auction result of USD 749,000.00 (€ 554,814.81).

Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Cornelis de Heem auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A Still Life Of Roses, Poppies, Lillies And Other Flowers In A Glass Vase On A Marble Shelf; Beneath A Partly Peeled Orange And Fraises De Bois In A Wan Li Porcelain Dish, Both On A Projecting Marble Ledge im Januar 2014 mit einem
