Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Greek the Battle Of Trafalgar by Constantinos Volanakis was auctioned at Sothebys in London in June 2017, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 60,000.00 – 80,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 52,500.00 (€ 59,787.70). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Constantinos Volanakis achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Greek The Arrival Of Karaiskakis At Faliro in November 2008 with an auction result of GBP 1,609,250.00 (€ 1,945,704.19).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Greek the Battle Of Trafalgar von Constantinos Volanakis im Juni 2017 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 60.000,00 – 80.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 52.500,00 (€ 59.787,70) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Constantinos Volanakis erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Greek The Arrival Of Karaiskakis At Faliro im November 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.609.250,00 (€ 1.945.704,19).
