This artwork by Colette Bouvard achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in March 2007. In the 19th Century European Art Including Russian Pictures auction, the work A conversation on a Venetian backwater sold for GBP 3,600.00 (€ 5,298.79) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 2,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Colette Bouvard; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Preparing to launch sold at auction in November 2006 with the realized price of GBP 6,600.00 (€ 9,801.21).
