In January 2014 Sothebys in New York held the auction Old Master Drawings, which included the work A Tightrope-Walker Crossing The Seine Near The Concorde Bridge, Watched From A Floating Grandstand By Napoleon And Other Dignitaries, On The Emperor'S Birthday, 15 August 1807 by Claude-Louis Desrais. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 8,125.00 (€ 6,018.52) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Other works by Claude-Louis Desrais have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in January 2012 the work Monsieur Mesmer'S Baquet was auctioned for USD 15,000.00 (€ 11,491.61).

Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 8.125,00 (€ 6.018,52) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen.
