Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2020 Bonhams in New York held the auction Fine Chinese Paintings and Works of Art, which included the work Pine Tree, 1766 by Chu Zhang. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 6,000.00 – 9,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 6,325.00 (€ 5,372.01) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Chu Zhang - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Four Virtues of a Gentleman, which sold at auction in May 2018 for HKD 100,000.00 (€ 10,925.45).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juli 2020 führte Bonhams in New York die Auktion Fine Chinese Paintings and Works of Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Pine Tree, 1766 von Chu Zhang zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 6.000,00 – 9.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 6.325,00 (€ 5.372,01) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Chu Zhang mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Four Virtues of a Gentleman beobachtet, die im Mai 2018 für HKD 100.000,00 (€ 10.925,45) versteigert wurde.
