This artwork by Christopher Steele achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in October 2016. In the Living with Art auction, the work Portrait of Giles Moore , three-quarter-length, reading the "Ilian", with a bust of Homer sold for USD 11,875.00 (€ 10,832.88) - well above the upper estimate of USD 5,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Christopher Steele; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Portrait Of Miss Bache, Half Length, Wearing A Red Dress sold at auction in July 2011 with the realized price of GBP 11,875.00 (€ 13,628.34).
