This price was achieved in the auction Important Old Master Paintings and Sculpture at Sothebys in New York and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of USD 300,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Christoph Amberger; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Portrait Of Barbara Schwarz sold at auction in July 2017 with the realized price of GBP 788,750.00 (€ 880,123.88).
